How to study English – Choose your Vocabulary Efficiently

My advice for this week is not to try to remember every single word that you encounter. You should choose your vocabulary carefully. At Kensington we always pick words that are commonly used so you don’t spend time learning words that won’t prove useful to you.

Learning the first thousand most frequent words in English will enable you to read a very large percentage of every text you’ll ever encounter. Use this to your advantage!

Start by learning the most commonly used words in a language and then customize it to your own needs. Why learn academic English if you just want to travel? Why learn business English if you just want to speak everyday English? Choosing your vocabulary to suit your needs makes your study time much more efficient.
