Hello again! This month’s final classes will be “interests” the teacher on Saturday will be me and Sunday it will be the wonderful Gemma.
Here is a little peek at what we will be doing this weekend.
Level 1
We will be talking about your general interests, what things you are interested in and what kind of things you enjoy doing. Please remember that the difference between an interest and a hobby is that a hobby is usually something which you take time to do actively but an interest can simply be something you have a fascination with but don’t actively pursue.
What are you interested in? 何に興味がありますか。
I’m interested in music. 音楽に興味がありますか。
We will use “Do you………?” and the simple form to ask questions about your habits.
Do you read music magazines? 音楽雑誌を読みますか。
Do you buy albums? アルバムを買いますか。
We will also use “ What’s a/ an interesting… you have…?” using the present perfect to form question about the past up till now.
What is an interesting book you have read ? 読んだ本の中で面白かったのは何ですか。
Finally, we will use the present continuous to express interest in doing something in the future.
I’m interested in going to Vatican City. バチカン市国に行くのに興味があります。
Level 2
Similar grammar but with a bit more vocabulary added to make more natural sounding conversation.
For example we will introduce the phrases like “ fascinated by” “ subscribe to” “ take part in” and show you the correct way to use “ looks like” and “ sounds like”
What are you interested in? 何に興味がありますか。
I’m fascinated by psychology. 心理学に魅了されています
Do you subscribe to any magazines? 何かのマガジンを定期購読してますか。
Do you ever take part in online discussion groups? オンライングループの論議に参加したことがありますか。
Vatican City looks like an interesting place to visit. バチカン市国は訪れるのに興味深そうに思えます。
Elon Musk sounds like an interesting person to meet. イーロンマスクは会うのに興味深そうです。
Level 3
As all the level 3 students know by now we will start off with a lot of questions in pairs so it’s probably a good idea to think these over a bit before you come to class this weekend.
What interests you? 何に興味がありますか。
I have a thing for science. 科学に興味があります。
I have a deep fascination for astronomy. 天文学に深く魅了されています。
When did you develop an interest in it? いつそれに興味を持ちましたか。
What do you think triggered your interest in it ? なぜそれに興味を持ち始めたと思いますか。
What do you think are the most interesting new technologies being developed just now? 最近発明された新しいテクノロジーで最も興味深いものは何と思いますか。
What new discovery or invention has captured your interest recently? 新しい発見や発明で最近あなたの興味を引いたものは何ですか。
Have watched any interesting documentaries lately? 最近、何か面白いドキュメンタリーを見ましたか。

Level 1
普段何に興味持っているかや何をしてる時が楽しいかなど話します。また興味があることと趣味の違いを覚えておいてください。趣味は普通時間を使って何かに取り組むことです。しかし興味とは物事に関心を持つことで、追求したり時間をかけて取り組むことではありません。
What are you interested in? 何に興味がありますか。
I’m interested in music. 音楽に興味がありますか。
次にあなたの普段の習慣について”Do you……?”から始まるシンプルな文法で質問しましょう。
Do you read music magazines? 音楽雑誌を読みますか。
Do you buy albums? アルバムを買いますか。
現在完了形です。
What is an interesting book you have read ? 読んだ本の中で面白かったのは何ですか。
最後は現在進行形です。

レベル1と似た文法ですが、もう少しボキャブラリーを足して自然な会話をします。
例えば、“ fascinated by” “ subscribe to” “ take part in”や “ looks like” and “ sounds like”の正しい使い方を紹介します。
