Hello everyone!
Today’s business English expression is an idiomatic expression meaning that it can’t be taken literally and must be learned for what it is.
The expression we are using today is “bring to the table”
有利な物を提供する
This means offer or have something to offer.
For example, we could use it to talk about what we have to offer another firm or client.
“I think the deal should go down quite smoothly, we have a lot to bring to the table”
“取引が円滑に進むように、私は有利な物を提供した。”
Or we can use it to talk about what can be offered to us.
“I’d like to meet with the manager first and see what he can bring to the table”
“先にマネージャーに会い、彼が何を提供するか見てみたい。”
Hope that comes in handy.
