Hello again. Last week I had a lovely conversation with a young policeman who caught me crossing the road at a red light. He was very nice about it but it was a little embarrassing being lectured by someone who looked like he was still in high school. Anyway in the U.K we have a few different slang words for the police here are a few of them.
the old bill
the coppers
the rozzers
the boys in blue
He was quite right though and in a situation like this you can use these expressions.
He caught me red handed. ( I was caught right in the middle of doing it)
He had me bang to rights. ( He was completely correct and there was no room for argument)
