Level 1
The Level 1 lesson we’ll start with general conversation about our backgrounds in pairs as in:
Where were you born? どこで生まれましたか？
I was born in Fukuoka. 福岡で生まれました。
Where did you grow up? どこで育ちましたか？
I grew up in Nagasaki. 長崎で育ちました。
Where do you live? どこに住んでいますか？
I live in Yakuin in Fukuoka. 福岡の薬院に住んでいます。
Then we’ll introduce some useful adjectives to describe cities. For example
small 小さな
medium-sized 中くらいの
big 大きな
exciting わくわくさせる
dangerous 危険な
polluted 汚染された
modern 現代的な
beautiful 美しい
ugly 醜い、見苦しい、目障りな
We’ll learn how to use “think”
I think Fukuoka is a small city. 福岡は小さい都市だと思います。
Is Tokyo crowded? 東京はごみごみしていますか？
Yes, I think Tokyo is very crowded. はい、東京は、とてもごみごみしていると思います。
how to use “famous for”
What is Fukuoka famous for? 福岡は何で有名ですか？
It’s famous for ramen and mentaiko. ラーメンと明太子で有名です。
and finally how to ask and answer questions with “have”
Does Fukuoka have an airport? (Usually we wouldn’t expect a city like Fukuoka to have more than one airport) 福岡には空港がありますか？(普通、福岡のような都市には、空港が2つ以上あるとは思わないので)
Yes, it has an airport. はい、空港があります。
Does Fukuoka have any beaches? (In this case we don’t know whether there are any beaches or not in Fukuoka) 福岡にはビーチがありますか？(福岡に、海水浴ができるところがあるか分からない場合)
Yes, it has some beaches. はい、ビーチがいくつかあります。
Level 2
The level 2 class will be similar as usual to the level 1 with more advanced adjectives to use for describing cities, such as:
exciting わくわくさせる
safe 安全な
modern 現代的な
ancient 古代の
inexpensive お金がかからない
charming 魅力的な、とても感じのよい
compact 小さくまとまった
fascinating 魅力的な、興味をそそる
popular 人気のある
picturesque 景色が(絵のように)美しい
we’ll introduce some adverbs such as “extremely”, “rather” to more accurately express our opinion with “think” as in
I think Beijing is an extremely polluted city. 北京は極度に汚染された都市だと思います。
I think Moscow is a rather dangerous city. モスクワはかなり危険な都市だと思います。
Do you think Fukuoka is a lively city? 福岡は活気のある都市だと思いますか？
Yes, I think it’s rather lively. はい、かなり活気のある都市だと思います。
No, I don’t think it’s very lively. いいえ、そんなに活気のある都市だとは思いません。
I think Beijing is an extremely polluted city. 北京は極度に汚染された都市だと思います。
I think Moscow is a rather dangerous city. モスクワはかなり危険な都市だと思います。

We’ll introduce “has got” as in

and finally have a general discussion about Fukuoka using some pretty cool vocabulary as in:
The cost of living is very low. 生活費がとても安いです。
The pace of life is rather slow. 生活のペースが割とゆっくりです。
The sense of community is extremely high. 地域の連帯感がとても高いです。
Fukuoka has got many job opportunities. 福岡には、就職の機会がたくさんあります。
Fukuoka has got an excellent public transportation system. 福岡には、すばらしい公共交通網があります。

In the level 3 we’ll up the vocabulary level a notch,
