How to study English-the answer is in the question
Hello again, today I’d like to give you a little advice on how to answer questions in English. There is one simple golden rule that if you follow will make your life so much easier!
The answer is in the question!
I hear this way too often.
Do you like sushi?
Yes, I like. X
Yes, I do. O
I know that in Japanese you would say はい、好きです but as I’ve said in previous blogs you have to switch off your Japanese brain when speaking English.
Now, as you can see from these simple yes/ no answer questions, the answer has to match the first word of the question sentence.
Is it Monday?
Yes, it is.
Have you been to Japan?
No, I haven’t.
Has the paper been delivered yet?
Yes, it has.
Was there a game on last night?
No, there wasn’t.
Are we going to the park later?
Yes, we are.
So now I’m sure you see the pattern forming now don’t you?
And there you have it, it’s really simple if you think about it. I really look forward to seeing you all using this in class from now on.

これはよく聞く回答です。

日本人が「はい、好きです」と答えるのは知っていますが
以前のブログで書いたように、英語を話す時は日本語脳のスイッチをオフにしてください。
このYes/Noのシンプルな答えをみたらわかるように、質問文の最初の言葉と答えの語を一致させないといけません。
