How to study English – learn the verb tenses off by heart.

Hello there everyone.

Recently I’ve had a lot of new private students in Nishijin and the reason they are taking privates instead of groups is that they aren’t confident enough in their English abilities to join group lessons.

The thing that I’ve noticed with most of them is that they haven’t learned the verb tenses yet. Tim introduced the phrase “off by heart”in one of his blogs and I think it may be a good idea to learn the present, past, and present perfect of the most commonly used verbs off by heart,(all the different forms of the be verb too) it just makes following the lesson easier and once you have them memorised you will be able to recognise the patterns in spoken sentences more easily.

There are lists of verbs and all their tenses all over the net, I suggest you search for them in Japanese to make them easier to understand.

みなさんこんにちは。

最近、西新校ではたくさんのプライベートレッスンの生徒さんが来られています。グループレッスンの代わりにプライベートを受ける理由として、グループレッスンに参加するにはまだ自分の英語力に十分に自信がないということです。

プライベートを受ける方を見ていて気付いたことは、まだ動詞の時制を学べていないということです。Timが“off by heart”（何度も覚えて頭に焼き付ける）というフレーズを以前ブログの中で紹介していましたが、一般的に使われる現在形、過去形、過去完了形を学ぶには、頭に焼き付けて暗記してしまうのが、私はいいアイデアだと思います。（be動詞の別の形式もすべて）

それはレッスンについていくのをより簡単にしてくれますし、一度覚えたら、話されている文章がより簡単に理解できるようになるでしょう。

動詞の時制についてのリストがインターネットにあります。日本語で調べてみたほうがより簡単に理解できるのでおすすめです。
