How to study English－Common Mistakes
Hello!
Today I don’t have any advice on how to study for you so I’m going to correct two mistakes that I have heard a lot. Especially this week!
Prepositions
We use on for days. e.g on Mondays
We use at for shorter time periods. e.g at the weekend/ at new year
We use in for longer time periods. e.g in summer / in 1998/ in the nineties
But we do NOT use any of these for things like next week/ last month/ yesterday/ tomorrow etc.
The other one is prepositions for places.
For example we say
I live in Fukuoka.
I went to Osaka last month.
But we do NOT use any prepositions for abroad/ overseas.
I am going to abroad. ✖
I am going overseas. 〇

今日は英語の勉強法についてのアドバイスはないので、時に今週よく聞いた２つの間違いについて正していきたいと思います。
前置詞
曜日についてはonを使います。例）on Mondays
短い期間のときにはatを使います。例）at the weekend/ at new year
もっと長い期間についてはinを使います。例）in summer / in 1998/ in the nineties
ただし、next week/ last month/ yesterday/ tomorrowのときには上記のような前置詞は使いません。
他の例で前置詞が入る場所をみていきます。
例えば、
I live in Fukuoka.
I went to Osaka last month.
ただし、abroad/ overseasのときには前置詞は使いません。
I am going to abroad. ✖
I am going overseas. 〇
