How to study English－Keep it simple, don’t translate!

My advice for today is short but pretty useful I think!
I may have said this before to you either in class or in a former blog but it is quite important to try not to translate from your own language into English, in the beginning this is a little difficult because you simply don’t have the vocabulary necessary to do so but it is a good habit to try to start to think in English as much as possible when speaking. Direct translations are sometimes impossible to understand.
The second piece of advice is for intermediate learners. Of course you have studied quite a bit by now, and you are eager to use the things you have learned but remember that languages are a means of communication and the same as is in your own language, the most simple way to convey something is the easiest way to make yourself understood so don’t try and fit everything you know into one sentence.
Of course there is nothing wrong with having a large vocabulary, but keep in mind that even native English speakers only use around 7000 words in everyday conversation so there is no need to go overboard when speaking about simple everyday things.

今日の私のアドバイスは短いですが、かなり役に立つと思います！
確か、レッスン中かブログで前にも言ったことがあると思いますが、英語を話す時に頭の中で日本語を英語に訳さないようにすることは、極めて重要です。始めは、単純に語彙力がないので少し難しいですが、出来るだけ始めから英語で考えるようにトライすることは、とてもいい習慣です。直訳してしまうと、時に全く理解できないものになってしまうことがあります。
二つ目のアドバイスは、中級者レベルの方に対してです。もちろんこれまで沢山勉強してきたと思いますし、学んできたことを使いたいと強く思っていると思いますが、言語というのはコミュニケーションの手段であり、あなた自身の言葉でもあります。相手に何か伝えるのに一番シンプルな方法は、あなた自身で一番簡単に伝えられる文章をつくることです。ですから、あなたが知っている言葉をひとつの文にそのまま当てはめようとしないでください。
もちろん、膨大な言語を覚えることは間違いではありませんが、ネイティブスピーカーでも毎回の会話で使う語彙数は7,000語くらいと言われています。なので、日々の事を話すシンプルな会話のとき、あなたはそんなに無理をする必要はないのです。
