How to Study English－Mimic

Hey there everyone, today I’m going to let you into a little secret……I don’t really understand some Japanese grammar! There it is, it’s out. Please don’t tell anyone!

A lot of grammar can be really hard to understand at first and it can be a real headache trying to comprehend it at first. When I was starting out with Japanese I noticed this was getting in the way of me being able to speak to people and decided to just start mimicking what people around me were saying. It worked! All of a sudden I was speaking and people seemed to understand me.

Grammar can be tough, little kids learn the grammar of their first language without even trying, so my advice for today is to listen to conversations, ( you can find natural conversation on our videos) and copy what you hear. When you go back to study the grammar again you may find that it suddenly makes sense to you. That is exactly what happened in my case, I pushed on without worrying about it too much and kept working on other parts of learning the language and when I tried that same grammar again I couldn’t understand what had been so difficult about it in the first place.

So keep listening, try using what you hear, go back to it again in the future.

みなさんこんにちは、今日はみなさんに秘密を打ち明けようと思います、、、私は日本語の文法をあまり理解していません！ついに言ってしまいました、誰にも言わないでくださいね！

多くの文法は、理解するのが最初本当に難しく、把握しようとすると本当に頭痛がしました。私が日本語を勉強し始めた時私はこれは人と話すのには妨げになる、と気づきました。そして周りの人が言っている事をただ真似し始めることにしました。するとそれはよく働きました！突然、私は話せるようになり、周りの人も私の言っていることを理解してくれるようになりました。

文法は難しいです。小さい子どもたちは、挑戦さえすることなく第一言語の文法を学んでいきます。なので今日の私のアドバイスは、会話を聞くことです。(みなさん私たちのビデオでナチュラルな会話が聞けますよ)そして聞いたことを真似するのです。あなたが文法の勉強に戻った時、突然それが理解できるようになっていると思います。これは本当に私に起こったことです。文法のことは心配しすぎず、他のことを勉強し続けました。そして同じ文法を振り返ると、最初なんでそんなに難しいと思ったのかが理解できなかったのです。

なので、会話を聞き続け、聞いたことを使い、そしてまた文法に戻ってください。
