Travel English – The pub!

Hello there everyone!
As most of you know I’m just back from my trip to the UK. We had a great time, visited a couple of nice places, one of which was York City which is not on everyone’s to do list is a lovely old city in northern England with a lot of history in tact and if you happen to have kids who like Harry Potter then it is a paradise for them.

But never mind the sightseeing, today we must talk about the pub! Pubs are definitely one of the best ways to enjoy real British culture. They have changed a lot over the years, a long time ago, women weren’t even allowed in them but now they are very family friendly and smoke free, the selection of beers is huge now and I’m sure this will be a big shock to you, the food is excellent. They are probably the best place to try traditional British food which is really nice when done properly.

If you want to get a feel for British life, then visit the pub, in the countryside is better than in the city, they are used as a place for socialising, having lunch, holding business meetings, to bring your family on a Sunday and you can even bring your dog. On weekdays you will often find elderly people there too, they use it like a kind of community centre.

The old countryside pubs usually have a long history and the buildings can be really old and beautiful too.

I want to go back! The sooner the better!

みなさんこんにちは！
多くの方は知ってると思いますが、旅行していたUKから帰ってきました。何か所か素敵な場所を回ったりして私たちはとてもいい時間を過ごしました。ひとつは、ヨークという街で、おそらくみなさんのTo doリストには入らないと思うのですが、歴史ある北イングランドの素敵な古い街で、もしハリーポッターが好きなお子さんをお持ちの方は、そこはパラダイスだと思います。

でも、観光についてはいいんです、今日はパブについて話さないと！
パブは、リアルなイギリス文化を楽しむには絶対に一番最高な場所です。月日を重ね、だいぶ変わりましたが、昔は女性がパブに入ることすら許されていませんでした。でも今はとてもフレンドリーでタバコも吸えるし、ビールの品揃えも多く、これはショックを受けるでしょうがなんとご飯がとても美味しいんです。おそらくおいしいイギリスの伝統的な食事に挑戦するには、パブが一番の場所でしょう。
もしあなたがイギリスの生活を感じたいのであれば、シティー中心部より郊外のパブに行ってください。日曜日には家族や犬を連れて行けますし、社交の場、ランチやビジネスミーティングの場としてパブは使われています。平日は年配の人たちもよく見かけます。彼らはコミュニティーセンターのようにパブを利用しています。

古い郊外のパブはだいたい長い歴史があるところが多く、建物はとても古く美しいです。

なるべく早くまた戻りたいです！
