Project progress report/ on schedule/ behind schedule/ budget overruns/ pull the plug
Hello friends, I hope things are going well at work.
Today we meet Noriko and Keisuke who have just given a project progress report to their boss Makiko.
Makiko: Uh… Noriko, Keisuke, according to your progress report, the project seems to be back on schedule…
Keisuke: That’s right, Makiko and we’re confident that it’ll be completed on time bu…but…
Noriko: Makiko…as you see in our report, we’ve run into some budget overruns.
Makiko: Yes, I was going to talk about that. The project costs are nearly 45% over the budget! Why?
Keisuke: Uhm…the shipping costs have gone up lately but we’re trying to…
Makiko: Please keep the costs down. If you don’t, I’m afraid the CEO will pull the plug on the project.
Hope you’re keeping your project costs down and plugs will not be pulled on any of your projects…

みなさんこんにちは。仕事が順調に進んでいることを祈っています。
今日は、上司のマキコにプロジェクトの進捗の報告をしたノリコとケイスケを見てみましょう。
マキコ：あぁ、ノリコ、ケイスケ。あなた達の進捗レポートによるとプロジェクトの進行が遅れているようね。
ケイスケ：そうなんです、マキコさん。みんなで予定通りに終わらせようと頑張っていますが、、、
ノリコ：マキコさん、レポートをご覧のとおり、予算オーバーです。
マキコ：そうね、そのことを話そうと思っていたの。プロジェクトの経費を45パーセントぐらい予算オーバーしているけど、なぜかしら？
ケイスケ：うーん。。。最近輸送費が上がってきています。しかし、なんとか、、、
マキコ：なんとかコストを下げてちょうだい。もしできなければ、CEOはこのプロジェクトを中止にすると思うわ。
どうかコストを下げて、みんなのプロジェクトが中止されませんように。。。
