pulling someone’s leg
Hello there everyone,
Since we are going to be expressing opinions this weekend, here is a phrase we can use when we find what someone is telling us to be either a joke or so unlikely that it must not be true.
Example
“If you ask me, Hotto Motto has the most delicious food in all of Japan.”
“What!?”
“You are pulling my leg aren’t you?”
“No, their chicken nanban is absolutely exquisite.”
As you can see in the example above speaker two has trouble believing what he is being told and thinks it’s a joke, only to be informed otherwise.

例
“If you ask me, Hotto Motto has the most delicious food in all of Japan.”
（私に言わせれば、ほっともっとが日本でもっとも美味しい食べ物だね）
“What!?”
（えっ、何言ってるの !?）
“You are pulling my leg aren’t you?”
（からかってるの？）
“No, their chicken nanban is absolutely exquisite.”
（違うんだ、チキン南蛮はすごくイケてるんだよ）
上の例の様に、2番目の話し手はただ言われただけではその内容を信じられず、冗談だと思っていましたね。
