Talk about myself/my hometown/my country
An interesting discovery
Like a lot of you I have been spending a bit more time at home these last couple of years and in that time I’ve been doing a fair bit of reading, which was something I alway used to love but became a bit too busy for after starting Kensington.
I only just learned that some books on my i-phone app are completely free but was disappointed when I found out they were classics! I never liked them when we read them in school and I hardly ever watch black and white films either. I’m a man of simple tastes.
Anyway I decided to give them a try and found that I’m suddenly a huge fan of Charles Dickens which came as a huge surprise. I love the way he describes people, , his sense of humour and his criticism of the social issues of those times. It’s a bit of a challenge to read sometimes because the language is a bit antiquated, but the more I read the more of a fan I become.
By rights as a Brit I should be more familiar with his work and it’s quite embarrassing that I’ve never paid much attention to famous British authors but I’ll be righting that wrong from now on!

多くのみなさんと同じように、私はここ数年、家で過ごす時間が少し増えました。
その間かなりの本を読みました。
読書は前から大好きでしたが、ケンジントン英会話を始めてからは読書に時間を割くには少し忙しすぎました。
私のiPhoneアプリに無料で読める本があることを最近知りましたが、それが古典であることが分かりとてもがっかりしていました。
古典を学校で読んだときは好きではなかったし、白黒映画もほとんど見たことがありませんでした。
はい、私は単純な趣味しかない人間です。
ですが、私は古典を試してみることにしました。
すると、驚くことに、私はチャールズ・ディケンズの大ファンであることに突然気づいたのです。
彼が人々を描写する方法、彼のユーモアのセンス、そして当時の社会問題に対する彼の批判が大好きです。
言語が少し時代遅れであるため、ときどき読むのが少しむずかしく感じますが、読めば読むほどファンになります。
私はイギリス人なので、有名なイギリスの作家であるチャールズ・ディケンズの作品にもっと精通しているはずなのに、今まであまり注意を払ったことがなかったのは非常に恥ずかしいことですが、これからはその間違いを正していきます！
