Study Advice / How to make most of your lessons
Stay busy, but not too busy.
The running theme for my blogs this week is all about being busy and my advice to you today is to stay as busy as you can with your English learning, but not so busy that you stress yourself out. “Use it or lose it” is exactly what it is all about with languages. For example, I have studied plenty of Japanese in the past and even though my speaking is much much better than it was back when I was still studying a lot my writing is almost non-existent and my reading has mostly been connected to running our business these days and therefore other areas of my reading abilities have suffered.
It’s a good idea to keep your studies varied and slightly above the level you are comfortable with so do a variety of reading, writing, speaking with different people and listening to all kinds of English materials.Firstly subjects you are interested in, but once you have improved you need to branch out and start going into deeper topics like the sciences, tech, politics, economics and so on to give you a wider vocabulary and a deeper knowledge of the language. Don’t do too much though! Set yourself achievable goals and make sure you rest too. The same as anything if you do too much of it, it just becomes a chore and no longer fun.!

忙しくする、でも忙しすぎないように
今週の私のブログのテーマはすべて「忙しいこと」です。
そして、今日のアドバイスは、「英語学習でできるだけ忙しくする、でもストレスを感じるほどはしない」ということです。
「Use it or lose it（使うか、失うか [使わないとダメになってしまう]）」は、まさに言語について表しています。
たとえば、私の日本語のスピーキングは前と比べてはるかに良くなっているにも関わらず、過去にたくさん勉強したライティングのスキルはほとんどなくなっています。
リーディングについては、今の私のビジネス運営に関連している部分以外は難しいです。
いろんな種類の勉強をし、自分の快適なレベルより少し上のものを勉強することをお勧めします。
さまざまなリーディング、ライティング、いろんな人とのスピーキング、そしていろんなものをリスニングしてください。
はじめは、あなたが興味のあるものからで大丈夫ですが、それができるようになったら、科学、技術、政治、経済学などのより深いトピックに広げ始めましょう。
それは、より豊富なボキャブラリーと言語のより深い知識を与えてくれるでしょう。
でもやりすぎないでくださいね！
達成可能な目標を設定し、休憩もしてください。
何事もそうですが、やりすぎると、雑用になって面白くなくなります。
