Shoot the breeze
Hello there,
Since we are talking about making small talk in our classes this weekend, I thought I’d introduce this phrase to you. “Shoot the breeze” just means to make small talk or casual conversation.
Example.
“I was almost late for work yesterday!”
“What happened?”
“I met an old friend of mine in the supermarket and we spent a bit of time shooting the breeze. Before I knew it an hour had passed and I had to get a taxi into work!”

「Shoot the breeze」
これは、雑談やカジュアルな会話をすることを意味します。

What happened?
(どうしたの？)
I met an old friend of mine in the supermarket and we spent a bit of time shooting the breeze. Before I knew it an hour had passed and I had to get a taxi into work!
(スーパーマーケットで旧友に会い、おしゃべりに少し時間を費やしました。気が付くと1時間が経過していたので、タクシーで出勤しなければなりませんでした。)
