今週末のレッスン内容 in 赤坂 and 薬院 – Study Abroad

Many of our students are interested in studying abroad so we thought it was about time to make a lesson for it. So this week in our classrooms in Akasaka and Yakuin we’ll be talking about studying abroad.

Level 1
In the level 1 classes we’ll practice how to use “would like” as in:

Would you like to study abroad? 　海外留学してみたいですか。
Where would you like to study?　どこで勉強してみたいですか。
I’d like to study in Canada or the US.　カナダかアメリカで勉強してみたいです。
How long would you like to stay there?　そこにどのくらい滞在してみたいですか。
I’d like to stay there for 6 months.　そこに6ヶ月くらい滞在してみたいです。
What else would you like to do there?　そこで他に何をしてみたいですか。
I’d like to go sightseeing.　観光をしてみたいです。
Where would you like to go sightseeing?　どこを観光してみたいですか。
I’d like to see the Niagara Falls.　ナイアガラの滝を見てみたいです。

Practice saying yes and giving reasons why.

Would you like to study abroad in Canada?　カナダに留学してみたいですか。
Yes, I would.　はい、してみたいです。
Why?　なぜですか。
I think Canada is very beautiful.　カナダはとってもきれいだと思います。
I think Canada has beautiful nature.　カナダには美しい自然があると思います。
I’m really interested in fishing!　魚釣りにとても興味があります。

Practice saying no and giving reasons why.

Would you like to study abroad in the Philippines?　フィリピンに留学してみたいですか。
No, not really　いいえ、あまりしてみたくありません。
Why not?　なぜしたくないのですか。
I think the Philippines is dangerous.　フィリピンは危険だと思います。
I’m not really interested in the Philippines.　フィリピンにあまり興味がありません。
I don’t really like hot weather.　暑い気候があまり好きではありません。

and talk about plans studying abroad:

Are you planning to study abroad?　海外留学を計画していますか。
Yes, I’m going to Canada next year.　はい、カナダに来年行く予定です。
Sounds nice! 　それはいいですね！
What are you going to do there?　そこで何をする予定ですか。

Level 2
In the level 2 classes we’ll start with some general discussion about studying abroad, especially concentrating on the difficulties and benefits of studying abroad and how to express our opinion.

Then we’ll practice how to use “I’d rather” to choose between some options, practice how to ask for someone’s opinions, how to ask for someone’s suggestions and how to give our own opinions and suggestions.

Level 3
The level 3 classes will focus on the same points as the level 2, but as always the conversation may cover a wider range of subjects and we’ll be upping the difficulty a notch or two.
