How to study English－面白い！
Hi there!
Today I want to show you the difference between these 3 words in English because my students tend to get them mixed up.
interesting: of interest to you, fascinating
funny: makes you laugh
fun: enjoyable
In Japanese they can all be used with the word omoshiroi but it doesn’t always translate well into English.
Here are some example sentences for you.
I watched a really interesting documentary the other day about a rock climber in Yosemite Park. You should definitely check it out.
Have you ever seen the film “Idiocracy”? It was so funny I was crying with laughter.
I went to Disneyland last week. It was way more fun than I expected!

funny: 笑ってしまう
fun: 楽しむ
日本語ではそれらをすべて面白いとひとくくりにして言いますが、英語ではそれがうまく変換されません。
次のような文章が例として挙げられます。
私は非常に興味深いロッククライムのドキュメンタリーをヨセミテ公園で見た。あなたもチェックすべきです。
あなたは26世紀少年を見たことがありますか？それはとても面白く私は笑い泣きしました。
私は先週ディズニーランドへ行きました。思った以上に楽しかった。
