Hey guys,
Here are three really useful expressions for the workplace:

Cut corners
‘Let’s do this properly, I don’t want to cut corners.’

If you cut corners at work, it means you are not doing something properly, in order to save time. It is almost always seen as a negative thing, as it usually leads to problems later down the line.

Back to the drawing board
‘Our initial assessment was off, we should go back to the drawing board’

This basically means to start something again, like a plan or a proposal.

Call it a day
‘Ok we got through a lot, let’s call it a day’

This basically means to finish for the day. It might mean that something at work is not finished, but you will pick it up again in the future. Or it can simply mean that I am going to finish work now.

Cut corners：手を抜く
‘Let’s do this properly, I don’t want to cut corners.’
ちゃんとやろう、手抜きはしたくないんだ。

仕事で”cut corners”するというのは、時間を節約するためにきちんとやらない事を意味します。
大体においてネガティブな意味で使われ、通常はその後問題を引き起こします。

Back to the drawing board：振り出しに戻る
‘Our initial assessment was off, we should go back to the drawing board’
我々の初期評価はひどい。最初からやり直すべきだ。

これは通常、計画や企画などをもう1度最初から始めるという意味です。

Call it a day：終わりにする、区切りをつける
‘Ok we got through a lot, let’s call it a day’
よし、今日は沢山やったからこの辺で終わりにしよう。

これは1日を終了する時に使います。
仕事の場では、仕事は全部終わってはおらず、また後日に取り掛かる事を意味する事もあります。または単純に、今仕事を終わります、という意味です。
