日常英会話レッスン – Dine

Hello everyone, since our topic is restaurants this weekend, I’ll show you some expressions to use with “dine”

“Dine” means to “eat dinner”.

“dine at”: We always dine at an Italian restaurant in Tenjin on Friday nights after work.

“dine in” means “eat at one’s home”: On Saturdays, I feel pretty tired after work so we usually dine in.

“dine on” means “to eat something”: Yesterday we dined on some fine steaks.

Do you usually dine at various restaurants around Fukuoka?
Hope you’ll be dining on some fine food tonight!

日常英会話レッスン -era/ time/ period

Hello there everyone since Japan has decided the new 元号 I thought it might be nice to show you how we talk about this in English.

Since the U.K doesn’t have the same system as this we just refer to at is the new name for the next imperial era.

Era/ time/ and period all mean 時代, so we can say things like ..

I was born in the Showa Era/ Period.

Major changes occurred during the Meiji Period in Japan.

Hello again, this weekend’s topics in Akasaka, Yakuin, Ropponmatsu and Nishijin will be “Spring”. We will be talking about the things you love/ hate about spring, how you usually spend spring, how you spent spring last year, your plans for this spring, and some of the things that typically happen in Japan around this time of year.

The teachers in Akasaka this weekend are Farah and myself and in Ropponmatsu it will be Henry.

Since today is Friday and for most of us that means the end of the working week, I will show you this phrase.

Live it up means to have a great/ enjoyable time.

For example.

“It’s been a terrible week, this week. I can’t wait to live it up at the weekend!”

“I haven’t seen Henry around recently.”

“ That’s because he’s on holiday. He’s living it up in Las Vegas at the moment.”

For example
